Samantha Clay
DVM
Dr Clay Grew up in Western Mass and was active with the Mass 4-H equine program as a youth.
Dr Clay is a graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr Clay looks forward to meeting all clients. She hopes to continue to serve large and small animal medical needs in town and in the surrounding communities. Everyone is welcome at South Deerfield Veterinary Clinic!
Andraya Cole
DVM MPH
Dr. Cole Grew up in Central Massachusetts, and has enjoyed being back close to home. Dr Cole attended Hamilton College in upstate New York for undergraduate studies and Washington State University for Veterinary School. She also holds a masters in public health from the University of Minnesota.
Dr Cole enjoys the variety of mixed animal practice but particularly loves working with cats and small ruminants/camelids as well as client education. In her spare time, Dr Cole enjoys farming with her husband and daughter, doing jigsaw puzzles, and discovering new places for great food.
Aiden McGrath
DVM
We welcome our newest doctor to our team, Dr Aiden McGrath joined the practice in Aug 2023. She grew up on Lake Champlain in northern Vermont, attended UMass Amherst for her undergraduate studies, and Tufts Cummings for Veterinary School.
Dr McGrath loves working with all of the different critters that come to SDVC, with a particular soft spot for her poultry, ruminants and feline patients. In her free time, Dr McGrath enjoys reading novels, baking new desserts and playing video games with her fiancée.
Alexandra Durant
DVM
Dr. Durant grew up here in Deerfield. She attended Morehead State University for undergraduate studies and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Durant enjoys working with not only cats and dogs, but also enjoys small mammals. In her free time she enjoys reading, kayaking and golfing.

Tom Ricardi
Our Best Friend and Dedicated Bird Rehabber
Tom Ricardi is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator who has nurtured thousands of injured birds of prey back to health. Since retiring in 2001 from a 38-year career with the Massachusetts Environmental Police, Tom is the Western Massachusetts go-to resource for injured raptors. The owner and operator of Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Center in Conway, Tom cares for these birds as a labor of love. He can regularly be found at the clinic dropping off and picking up birds that have received medical care from our team. We consider Tom part of our close knit family.
Shelley Wilson
Office Manager
Shelley is our Office Manager originally from Belchertown and currently resides in New Salem. She has cats Stella, Ninja and several chickens. In Shelley’s free time she enjoys being outdoors, quilting and spending time at home with her family.
Brian Wozniak
Business Manager
Brain joined the SDVC team in the fall of 2023! He brings to the team years of experience in customer service and business finance. He currently takes care of our books and is working on a clinic expansion which will grow the clinic at its current location! He loves traveling the world with his daughter, Kate! Pictured with him is his Great Dane, Ophelia, who has many nicknames.
Holly Karrasch
Certified Technician
Holly is a Certified Technician. Holly has been a Large and Small Animal Technician and Surgery Tech for us. On her time off you can find Holly relaxing and reading a book in her hammock hanging from her goat barn. Holly also has a cat named Muffin and a Bassett Hound lab cross named Bella.
Shayla Fiedler
Certified Technician
Shayla is one of our Certified Technicians. Shayla has worked as a Small and Large animal Technician and as a surgery Technician. Shayla most interested in working with the wildlife. At home she has 2 cats and far too many fish tanks. . In her free time she likes to draw, paint, and sculpt. She briefly worked in LA doing special effects for horror movies!
Lexi Matuszko
Veterinary Assistant
Lexi is a Large and Small Animal Technician for us. Lexi has had horses all of her life. Lexi owns a horse, a dog, and a cat. Lexi is a certified Equine Message Therapist. Lexi enjoys spending time with her friends and animals and being a part of the equine drill team.
Corey Raymond
Veterinary Assistant
Corey has been in the field for several years Corey is one of our exam room technicians. Everyone loves Corey. Corey enjoys spending time with all our cats. Corey was recently voted by his team peers most helpful.
Hannah Fletcher
Veterinary Assistant
Hannah is a graduate of University of New England with a Batchelor in Marine Science. Hannah has been a Veterinary Technician for 3 yrs in Leominster until moving to South Deerfield recently. Hannah enjoys all animals. Everyone enjoys working with Hannah.
Jeannette Tuden
Veterinary Assistant
Most recently started working here after moving back to the area. Jeannette attended UMass and has been a Receptionist and Assistant Technician for 1 years. We are happy to have Jeannette join our team.
Emily Putnam
Front Desk Team
Emily is one of our experienced Receptionists. Emily has been at this clinic for many years and knows all the clients that come in. Emily pretty much loves everything cows. Emily enjoys being outside and hiking with her 3 dogs.
Kirsten Leitner-Markert
Front Desk Team
Kirsten works as one of our Main Receptionists. Kirsten is great helping clients. She is particularly fond of dogs with beards. Kirsten enjoys being home with her family, pets and gardening. In her spare time she likes to walk the beach with her dog and cuddle with her pets.
Justice Tocker
Front Desk Team
Justice works as one of our Main Receptionists. Justice enjoys working on our Facebook and Emails for the clinic. She loves cats, and cat related things. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her cats, and knitting. During her work hours, she enjoys spending time with Primo our clinic cat. Justice has taught him to Hi-Five.
Vanessa Cypher
Front Desk Team
Vanessa has joined our team in Sept of 2023. Vanessa is working as Receptionist and Assistant Technician. Vanessa is studying to become a certified technician. Vanessa enjoys her 7 cats and being home with her family.
Lizzy Hardy
College Intern
Lizzy has been one of our Intern Technicians, she currently is studying as a Pre-Vet Major at UMass. Lizzy will be a senior this year and will be graduating in May 2024. Lizzy hopes to attend Vet School in the fall of 2024. She lives in Orange and has had horses all her life, she competes on the UMass Equestrian Team. Lizzie has also been active in the Mustang Adoption Program. At home Lizzie has chinchillas, geckos, turtles, and rabbits. In her spare time Lizzie enjoys training her Mustang, going on hikes with her dog Rowan.
Allison Devino
College Intern
Allie joined our team of Technicians. Allison graduated from Smith Vocational School and is a Freshmen attending UMass as a Pre-Vet Student. Allie has had many accomplishments at a young age, which include winning the state dairy judging and winning 1st place in the state science fair for FFA. Allison future goals are to become a Veterinarian.
Sophia Greisen
College Intern
Sophia is back with us. Sophia is a senior in the UMass Pre-Vet program and had taken a year of school abroad in Scotland. We are thrilled to have her back and wish her well getting into Vet School next fall.
Grace Clendenin
High School Intern
Grace is a senior this fall in the Smith Vocational Student in their Work Study Program. Grace is assisting in the exam rooms. In her spare time Grace is milking cows on her family farm and enjoys being in 4-H showing her cows. Grace did really well showing her cow at the fairs and Big E.
